A routine 5-panel, and many broader workplace panels, are not designed to identify 7-hydroxymitragynine. Specialized kratom testing is different: laboratories can use immunoassay screening and definitive mass-spectrometry methods to identify mitragynine and 7-OH in biological specimens.

The key is therefore not simply “Will 7-OH show up?” but “What substances does this specific test actually target?”

Because drug-testing policies, laboratory methods, and 7-OH regulations continue to evolve, always rely on the actual laboratory panel and current official requirements when the result could affect employment, medical care, legal status, or professional licensing.
